Olam Orchards Australia (a subsidiary of Olam International) is Australia's largest almond grower, managing over 12K hectares of orchards in the Sunraysia area of Victoria. The company processes the almonds and the product is sold on both the domestic and international market.

The future is now to consolidate the Australian almond business and ensure that Olam Orchards Australia develops world's best practices in production, processing and human resource management. The business requires a high calibre, tertiary qualified agribusiness professional to assist the business to sustain and improve the quality of its operations and drive profit enhancement initiatives into the future.

Working with the GM-Orchard Operations, the Operations Manager will be primarily responsible for providing operational and commercial support across the farm assets with the objective to improve productivity and profitability. The incumbent will require exceptional people management skills as the role has twelve direct reports. These include eleven farm managers and a fleet manager.

The Manager of Operations will be able to demonstrate:

  • Budgeting, planning and reporting;
  • OH& Environment management
  • Operational analysis;
  • Best practice in orchard management
  • Procurement and
  • Implementing standardised systems and processes across the business.

Identified as having outstanding people management skills and a high level of commercial acumen you will be seeking a broad role focussed on almond production and corporate commercial deliverables. Your profile is likely to include management of a large-scale orchard, agronomic skills in pest and disease management and a breadth of experience in commercially running farm operations. Horticulture expertise is highly desirable as is the ability to effectively manage the human resource. Your peers will regard you as fair, firm and friendly in your people management style of management.
