Senior Safety & Training Officer

My client owns a large mining operation in North Queensland and in the very near future will be ramping up and will require a Senior Safety & Training Officer for their metalliferous operations

This position is primarily responsible for promoting health and safety in the workforce and to ensure that the safety values of this company of zero harm to our workforce and others is achieved. The position is also accountable for the coordination and provision of training for employees to help facilitate a skilled, competent and safe workforce.

This is a Senior role and part of the HR team and will be required to formulate and implement safety and health policies and procedures that can be  efficently implemented and monitored within the organisation.

Qualifications that you will need to be considered for this role are as follows:

• Minimum 8 years experience in health and safety in mining, manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Possession of a safety qualification e.g. WHSO, Dip OHS, Cert 4 OHS or equivalent is mandatory
• Significant exposure to OH & S systems, audit processes and risk assessment procedures.
• Demonstrated experience working and contributing to high performance teams.
• Operational experience working in heavy industry, mining or manufacturing desirable.
• Experience in the case management, worker’s compensation and rehabilitation within the workplace.
